How long will the installation & finishing process take?
The time greatly depends on the size of the project, however for most residential jobs the install is 1-2 days. If you are having your floors sanded and refinished, you can expect 3-5 days.
How long after finishing before I can walk on my floors?
Newly sanded or refinished floors can withstand light foot traffic one day after final coating. Prefinished floors can be walked on immediately after installation.
Do you move the furniture?
Yes we can arrange that, the fee varies with the amount of furniture.
When can I move furniture back in place?
Most manufacturers recommend 2-3 days before furniture and 7-10 days before putting down area rugs. Again, if your project utilizes prefinished floors, you can use them immediately.
I can't get to your showroom, can you bring samples to my home?
We would be glad to bring our wood and stain samples to your home where we can discuss the details & choices for your project. Upon making selections your estimate can be delivered, e-mailed, or faxed for your convenience.
When you sand my floors, should I expect any clean-up afterward?
Hardwood refinishing does create a fair amount of dust and smell with the polyurethane finish. Some of our customers schedule their refinishing project with a vacation so that we can perform the service and you return to a completed project. You can opt for our Dust Reduction Sanding system which traps up to 75% or the airborne dust created from sanding, and doorways, counter tops, and cabinets can easily be covered with plastic to help minimize the spread of dust into inconvenient areas. However there will still likely be some light cleaning required afterward.
Can you do repairs to my existing wood floor(s)?
Yes, we routinely perform repairs as separate projects or as part of a larger re-finishing job.
What are the differences between the traditional wood flooring that gets sanded and newer prefinished floors?
We know the decision to install wood flooring in your home is a big decision, and with so many options available it can be confusing. One of the biggest questions that arise is whether prefinished wood flooring, or solid unfinished flooring which is sanded and finished on site, is right for you.
My floors have some gaps between boards, is this normal?
To some extent, yes. Wood flooring expands and contracts with temperature and humidity changes, so therefore it is perfectly normal to notice gaps due to shrinking in the dry seasons of winter. These should close-up somewhat or disappear in warmer months.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, we accept Master Card, Visa, Discover and American Express.
Is it OK to put wood floors in my kitchen or bathroom?
Certainly. In fact many homeowners are finding the warmth and beauty of wood extending into these rooms is the best floor covering choice available. Wood that is kept clean and maintained can provide excellent service in your kitchen and bath.
Can you remove my old carpet and/or vinyl floors?
Yes. Removal of old floor coverings is something we would be glad to handle for you. We routinely do this as part of a complete floor make-over. Whenever a layer of flooring is removed there is a chance of finding repairs that need to be done to ensure a quality installation. If this is the case, we will contact you to discuss repair options.
I want a custom look with some exotic wood choices...can you help me with that?
Yes, we have acess to an enormouse selection of woods, corks, bamboo etc., many of which we have samples right in our showroom.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, we maintain a current license in Chesterfield County as well as adequate insurance.
Do you offer free estimates?
